I have a PC and I generally keep my Macbook Air on my desk next to it. Step 1: If you’re using macOS Big Sur, click the Display menu in Control Center or the menu bar, then choose your iPad from the menu. If you have both a MacBook and an iMac, you can use the iMac as a secondary display for the MacBook, or use an iMac as a display for another iMac. If you don’t have a wireless network, you can use an Ethernet cable instead (just connect the cable to an Ethernet port on both computers, and then move to the next step). The Macbook is generally closed, but if I could use it as a second monitor that would be awesome. Connect both Macs to the same wireless network. This gives you a bigger screen without needing to. Press Command-F2 on the keyboard of the iMac. Step 2: If you’re using macOS Catalina then the process is slightly different, click the AirPlay icon in the menu bar, then choose your iPad from the menu. You can use more than one iMac as a display, if each iMac is using a Thunderbolt cable to connect directly to a Thunderbolt port on the other Mac (not the other iMac). (If you don’t see the AirPlay icon, choose Apple menu ? > System Preferences, click Displays, and select “Show mirroring options in the menu bar when available”.) Open the Apple menu on the Mac you want to access remotely. Then check the box next to Screen Sharing. Choose to allow access for All Users or Only these users. Connect the monitor to the Mac using the appropriate cable and adapters if necessary. Step 3: Now you can see your macOS connected to the iPad and it will show the display of your macOS iPad. So similar to any other display, you can move windows to iPad and use it as a secondary monitor. Step 4: You can also customize Sidecar from the preferences. Note: This may not work on older Mac devices such as early. To activate extended mode: Click Apple menu > System Preferences > Display > Arrangement.
